PUPPY NEWS !!! (4) UPCOMING LITTERS !!!

Puppies, puppies and more puppies!! After a few months of our home without puppies to love and spoil, we’re ready to rock and roll with FOUR beautiful litters planned below. Pictures of each parent with details are listed. I have so missed having pups here!!! There’s just nothing like snuggling with a sweet, chubby little puppy!!

Now for more news!! We have an innovative, very unique Puppy Preschool Program! Our puppies are so-o-o smart! While the pups are being raised in our home, early obedience classes with our Certified Dog Trainer are offered when they turn just 4 weeks old through 8 weeks old, simply awesome. When the pups go to their forever homes then at (8) weeks, they are already Puppy Graduates! It’s amazing how much our little “puppy students” love preschool, working with Mary, and how quickly they learn!!

Because our litters are normally pre-sold….reserving your puppy early is key, as it best assures you of your new best friend!! We will accept a minimal number of reservations until we see how Mother Nature blesses us.

OUR (4) HONEYMOON COUPLES ARE ………….

Our dazzling Cammie and adorable Vincent pairing this month. This couple is totally magnificent! Puppies are expected in March going home in May, a beautiful time of the year for puppies! Colors expected are creams and caramels with sizes maturing to approximately 26-32 pounds. Coats will be wavy fleece and curly fleece. This couple produces really fun pups with exceptionally sweet personalities. Cammie’s litter is fully reserved at this time.

Next we have our sensationally sweet Emmeline and Wrigley, a stellar chocolate boy, with stunning good looks! Puppies are expected in May, going home in July. We’ll be having a puppy pool party this time of year! Colors expected are rich chocolate and perhaps creams. Sizes will finish at approximately 25-35 pounds. Coats will be silky fleece feeling like crushed velvet…simply lovely. This pairing is truly a match made in heaven!!

Next up, a repeat performance! Our beautiful Bella and charming Mel! Puppies are expected in May going home in July. We had super nice puppies from this couple last year so we just couldn’t resist pairing them again!! Temperaments of these pups were awesome. We’ve gotten rave reviews on these puppies with special notes from their families appreciating how incredibly easy their pups were to housetrain! Colors will be chocolates, cafe’s and creams….. a really nice mix. The creams will have awesome caramel highlights in their coats and ears like their daddy Mel. Coats will be curly fleece with some wavy fleece. We’re so excited to see more of Bella/Mel puppies!!

Then we have our stunning Annie honeymooning with an incredibly dark red boy we’ve specially chosen for her, the wickedly handsome MacGuffy Rudigan! These puppies will be sure to be drop-dead gorgeous!! Puppies are expected in June going home in August. Summer pups are so-o-o much fun. The children are still home to play and occupy the pups and vice versa, what a genious plan…..right Moms! Colors expected will be lucious creams and dark rich caramels. Sizes will finish at solid mediums 30-45 pounds. We could perhaps have a large pup or two finishing at a small standard size. Coats will be fabulous fleece, absolutely stunning! These parents are oh so loving and gentle so their pups will be sure to melt your heart!!

Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! I can’t believe 2012 is here in two days!!! For the new year, we’ve lots of exciting and new information to share about our breeding program in 2012! We will announce our upcoming breeding plans in January, but to start with, we are interviewing for outstanding, loving guardian families for stunning pick-of-the litter female puppies ready for their homes in late Spring/Summer 2012. Bella x Mel Puppies ~ 8 Weeks ~ Homecoming

For our final post on Bella’s first litter now at 8 week’s old, we thought homecoming pics of them with their families would be a great idea! We have had so much fun raising this litter of puppies. They’ve all been so delightful with their joyful and happy personalities! I will surely miss all my sweet puppies and look forward to the updates and photos my families send to me. I LOVE watching our pups grow up!! My thanks to our wonderful trainer, Mary Smallwood, who has put her heart and soul into giving our puppies a great “paw up” on introducing them to basic commands. She’s also introduced them to proper corrections of behaviours that are common in pups such as jumping up, nipping, gnawing on leashes and such. The pups have learned so much in Puppy Preschool, it has been amazing! We are especially proud of Bella in the wonderful job she did in raising her babies. My heartfelt thanks to all our awesome puppy families who were so nice to work with and for providing our puppies with such great homes. I’m sure our puppies will give their families wonderful loving companionship for many years to come!

Thanks to all who have followed our puppies as they grow up! I think you can tell by the look on the faces of our puppy folks that it was total “love at first sight” when they saw their new family member!

Bella x Mel Puppies ~ 7 Weeks

I just can’t believe my precious puppies are going home in about a week now! I have been totally in love with this litter since they were born! They’ve been such fun pups to raise……so much my little lovies, very mellow and sweet. Their tails wag all the time and they all give such wonderful kisses to us! Their coats are fabulous fleece feeling so silky and soft. Bella and Mel truly were a match made in heaven having blessed us with these sweet babies!!

We’ve lots of pictures to share this week including training exercises we’ve done with the pups and holiday photos! Our puppy trainer, Mary, has done a great job with the puppies as always and will be giving valuable training info to our families as they each take their pups home. Our Puppy Preschool has given our pups a great introduction to basic obedience and corrections and it’s all been mixed with lots of praise and love!

Thanks for taking a peek at our soon-to-be puppy preschool graduates. We hope you enjoy our festive holiday photos of our crew! Bella x Mel Puppies ~ 6 Weeks

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We were busy with puppies of course but definitely took time out for a yummy family meal!!

Our puppies are pretty much well onto their way to being totally weaned. They have sharp little puppy teeth, not all totally in yet, but quite a few are there so Bella is winding down nursing her babies. It takes her a few short minutes to nurse and then she just hangs out and has fun playing with the crew. The puppies pull on her beard or chew on her tail, but she’s so mellow about it and just takes it all in stride.

This week they’ll see our vet for their first check up and vaccinations and they’ll be microchipped as well. We gave them their first baths this morning. They all loved the bath part, but the blow dryer was a tad scarier with the noise and all. All in all, they were pretty good with it though! Mary will be back for more classes this week so we have a full schedule planned for the next several days…..

Bella x Mel Puppies ~ 5 Weeks

Our puppies have been busy learning lots of new things this week! We’re talking intro to housetraining “101,” moving through the weaning process and beginning puppy preschool lessons for starters. Whew! Bella’s also teaching the “kids” discipline when playtime gets a little rough. She corrects with a gentle growl or nudge. Hmm…..sound familiar to all you Moms out there???

We have pics of our trainer working with the puppies which are so darn cute! Mary is very impressed with our students!! The pups are all so eager to learn and experience new things at this age…they are all little tail waggers loving lots of praises and kisses for a job well done!

Hope everyone has a blessed and happy Thanksgiving!!! We’ve lots to be thankful for….starting with these six little beauties!!

Bella x Mel Puppies ~ 4 Weeks

At 4 weeks, we’ve lots of neat things going on with our puppies these days! First, we’ve started housetraining them beginning on puppy wee pads, and they’re definitely “getting it!! Yay! This week, we’ll start to wean them on puppy gruel which the babies always find yummy. Until they get the hang of eating this type food, they’ll look more like they’re taking baths in it rather than eating much of it. Bella will help clean up little puppy faces and such….just like a good Mom does! She’ll keep nursing them in between their 3 feedings a day of this new food and will still spend lots of time with them.

Time for Puppy Preschool to begin!! Our professional dog trainer, Mary, will start working with the pups this week which is so-o-o exciting!! For starters, she’ll use goats milk to lure them into a sitting position and will do many more special exercises with them with each lesson. They are very eager to learn at this age, and I can tell they are very smart puppies already!!!

The babies are doing more play-wrestling, barking and vocalizing with each other. We’ve introduced them to a variety of toys to keep playtime fun and interesting. They LOVE the play gym we have in their area….they especially like to bat at the hanging toys and chew on the different rattles.

I think in these pics at week 4 you can really tell how fast they’re growing!! Thanks for taking a peek at our sweet babies!! Have a great week everyone!

Bella x Mel Puppies ~ 3 Weeks

Here we are at 3-weeks already! Our puppies are reaching milestones like crazy, just starting their “toddler period” now. Eyes are open and they can see some movement and detect light and dark. They can also hear, moving their heads towards the sound of my voice. They’re practicing walking and getting the hang of it pretty well! Oh and their play time is just the funniest…..REALLY cute now to see them pawing and mouthing one another. We cut their nails this morning and everyone was so brave! They don’t mind having their feet touched at all which is great! Love, love, love giving kisses to those squishy little faces of our babies too. It’s so hard to get any work done around the house as cuddling them is SO much more fun!!

Wasn’t gaining that hour this weekend so cool. We all slept in a bit this morning…. having those extra 60 minutes was just wonderful! Have a great week……thanks so much for watching our puppies grow up!

Bella x Mel Puppies ~ 2 Weeks

Sure hope everyone fared well with the weird snowstorm we had this weekend. That was just crazy wasn’t it. We now have a new month I guess….”Snowtober!” We all stayed warm and cozy though. Bella LOVES the snow so she took some short romps, came in for a snack of apples (she’s an apple connoisseur), got dried off and went back to her momma duties!

Okay, now for PUPDATE time! Our crew is growing by leaps and bounds and their roly-poly little tummies show it. They’re getting more active now, attempting to get up and wobble walk. Some of the puppies are starting to open their eyes too. You can see this best in the photo of yellow chocolate girl this week. Every now and then someone lets out a bold yippy bark, very very cute! They all love their cuddles and kisses we give them….definitely the best part of our days! Bella is venturing out of the nursery more often, wanting to check in with the rest of our family to see what’s going on!

Bella x Mel Puppies ~ 1 Week

Happy 1st week birthday puppies! Our new arrivals are doing just great as is proud momma Bella. It’s incredible to see how pudgy our puppies have become in just this first week. They’ve basically gained 1-2 ounces a day, just perfect!! They don’t like their weigh-ins though, as they squirm and protest about them every time. Watchful Bella just sits there and stares at me as if to say, “hurry up and get this done, my babies don’t like what you’re doing!!”

Puppy sense of smell and touch guide them to their mom to nurse. Their eyes will open in about a week or so and then when ear canals open, they’ll slowly begin to respond to sudden or loud sounds. We’ve begun doing the set of (5) “Super Dog” exercises with them which is basically early neurological stimulation. These exercises increase their ability to learn, perform and handle stress. Although they are so young, it’s amazing the important things you can do with them now to lay the foundation for raising a great puppy!!

We play classical music in the nursery, basically for Bella to mellow on. New doodle moms prefer a quiet, calm environment. In a week we’ll have the puppies listening to that CD as well as a special CD that contains “Sounds of Life” so they get used to a variety of life’s noises early on and are not fearful of them. Later we’ll let them tune into the “oldies” and “top 40″ to rock out!!
